Lesson Stages
This phase includes 7 interactive teaching stages
Lead-in: Opposing Lines
Students stand on opposing lines based on their opinion. Generates interest and activates prior knowledge about the topic.
Gist Reading (VS Format)
VS format voting - students guess who holds each opinion before revealing the answer. Teachers prompt for reasons.
Reading Comprehension
Timer-based reading with MCQ check. Students can be nominated to board to select answers.
Noticing: Matching + Underlining
Students match collocations and underline them in the text. Focus on discovering patterns.
CCQs with Emojis + Translation
Concept checking questions using emojis and L1 translation to verify understanding of collocation meanings.
Team Definition Match
Team voting game - teams vote on which collocation matches each definition, then check together for points.
Discussion Questions
Question-based practice with hints and example answers. Students answer using collocations, then discuss in pairs.
