The Reporter: My Classroom

Class Reporter (PPP)

About This Phase

20-minute PPP lesson introducing 'This is a/the/[name]' through mystery box warmer, kinesthetic drilling, phonology focus, and reporter-style video production.

🎭

Lesson Stages

This phase includes 5 interactive teaching stages

📌
Stage 1

Mystery Box

6 closed boxes on screen containing classroom items (window, chair, table, door, book, pencil). Teacher clicks a box - students run to the matching classroom item. Box reveals contents - correct guessers sit down. Boxes stay open, reducing choices each round.

📌
Stage 2

Target Language

Large text 'This is a book' displayed with icons of classroom items underneath. Teacher selects an item icon - students move to that item while chorally saying the sentence. Kinesthetic drilling: students physically go to objects as they drill.

📌
Stage 3

Phonology Drill

"This is a ___" displayed with sound wave graphics. Interactive buttons: 🔇 Quiet, 📢 LOUD, ⬆️ High, ⬇️ Low. Teacher clicks modes - students drill pronunciation with volume/pitch variations. Gamified drilling for connected speech.

📌
Stage 4

Reporter Tour

🎥 'Class Reporter Mode' - camera frame graphic. Teacher becomes TV reporter with imaginary microphone, touring classroom. Introduces items: 'This is a whiteboard', people: 'This is Maria', teacher: 'This is the teacher'. Students follow in a line, repeating and pointing. Can extend outside classroom.

📌
Stage 5

Student Reporters

🎬 'You are the Class Reporter!' - camera frame with student name. Nominated students get 'filmed' (teacher holds phone/pretends) introducing the class. Mini project: each reporter presents items, classmates, and teacher. Creates authentic, purposeful speaking practice.
